“Uni” Short Film

View Comments 12 April 2010

Short film by Karim Ayari & Amanda Asselin, filmed for the 72 hour Ottawa Boxcart Film Festival

This short film was written, shot and edited in 72 hours. On the first day of the challenge, we were presented with the following criteria that had to be included in the film:

Topic: “28 days late for work”

  • Landmarks: Chateau Laurier and any Shawarma shop
  • Props: Grilled cheese sandwich, dumpster or recycling bin
  • Phrase: “I can swim! I just can’t keep my head above water!”
  • Action to be included: Any character must do several jumping jacks at any point in the film
  • Make a reference to doing 72 hours of hard time.
  • Make a reference to the film “Back to the Future”
  • Film length: No shorter than 5 and no longer than 8 minutes in length
  • Rob Butler
This film was very well put together. I'm impressed at the fluidity of the camera movement. The lighting is appropriate, and the sound track is intriguing.

I am also impressed with the story.
